The Beauty in a South Australian Wedding

South Australian Bridal Portrait

The creation of inspirational South Australian wedding photos in the winter of 2017 was a rewarding challenge. Yet even in those cold months, there is still so much beauty to be found throughout the Fleurieu Peninsula and in any South Australian wedding.

The old gums towering over vineyards in McLaren Vale; the sea views over Encounter Bay; the leafy Adelaide hills turning dark green after the rainy wet season. The natural beauty of South Australia is a constant source of inspiration for us. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful to see, no matter the time of the year.

The Beauty in a South Australian Wedding

So, we decided to set ourselves a challenge. “Let’s create some beautiful images showing the raw, elegant, and rural beauty of a South Australian wedding… in the middle of winter!”

Adelaide Bride with native flowers

We shared our crazy idea with a few of our favourite Adelaide wedding vendors. Together, we set about creating a wild and beautiful photoshoot located at one of the finest South Australian wedding venues, Waverley Estate at Port Elliot.

Incredible and untamed flower crowns, bouquets and table pieces were hand crafted by the pair of amazing Adelaide florists at Twig Studio. The florals coupled perfectly with the delicate handmade wedding gowns from South Australian wedding gown designer, Caleche Bridal.  Sharon, the brains and talent behind Adelaide wedding stationer, Magnolia Press, unveiled her thick yet delicate handmade paper printed with soft watercolour tones and a wooden sign with the invigorating words, “and so the adventure begins”.

On the scheduled day of our photoshoot, the South Australian weather also decided to contribute to our project by displaying its full force! With lashings of rain and gale force winds blowing from the Southern Ocean our time at Waverly Estate was challenging yet inspirational. After all, how many wedding shoots end with a rainbow?

Despite being rained on and wind swept we soldiered on to create some beautiful images and would like to sincerely thank all the vendors involved.
